Kiroran

Kiroran, web site, 10728 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax, VA (next to the H-Mart, please note the sign does not say “Kiroran,” rather right now in December 2016 it is “QTea Café”) 703-865-5033 (Metro Trip Planner – opens in new window) [Ylp]

Uighur/Uyghur food in Fairfax! Hurray! And it’s very good. In terms of selection, it doesn’t go beyond the offerings at Queen Ammanisa, but it is more consistent and has an overall friendlier vibe. Get the Qurqur soup dumplings and also ask for Lahmacun noodles spicy. For all dishes, add the spicy sauce on your table. This is essential. Repeat after me: Uighur food in Fairfax!

There is a new Uighur restaurant in DC, near the Cleveland Park Metro. Called Dolan Uyghur Restaurant. We think it is better than Queen Ammanisa in NoVa. A more extensive and better executed menu.

Went here yesterday a little after noon. The menu was very nondescript – ie nothing was described or even marked as spicy. The service was VERY slow and it seemed the kitchen staff was more concerned with feeding their co-workers as my wife and I waited about 25 minutes for a simple stir fry dish while we saw food passed to at least 2 staff members. By the time it got to our table, we had to inhale and run as we had somewhere to be. IMHO, they need to get their ish together!

I tried it today. I asked if they had gluten-free noodles. I was told they didn’t have noodles today (despite a large fraction of their dishes including noodles). I tried the “dried chicken.” It was inexpensive cuts of chicken, including bones, fat, and gristle, in something resembling BBQ sauce. Not recommended.
