It is also one of the best places in Europe for vegetarian dining.  Maximize the number of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/05\/15\/dining\/torta-pascualina-has-stepped-up-in-class.html?_r=0\">tarts and vegetable tarts you eat<\/a>, skip hotel breakfast and look for small places with morning snacks, preferably baked goods, and treat them as the equal of cooked dishes.  Forget about meat altogether.<\/p>\n<p>1. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.it\/#hl=it&#038;sclient=psy-ab&#038;q=antica+sciamadda+genova+via+san+giorgio&#038;oq=antica+scimadda+san+giorgio&#038;gs_l=hp.1.0.0i8i13i30l2.4468.4468.4.7238.1.1.0.0.0.0.166.166.0j1.1.0...0.0...1c.1.12.psy-ab.UQdAJYoJqq0&#038;pbx=1&#038;bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&#038;bvm=bv.46340616,d.bGE&#038;fp=5eba433d9effa035&#038;biw=1366&#038;bih=664\">Antica Sciamadda, 14-16 Via San Giorgio<\/a>, arrive at the 11:30 opening and keep on buying the tarts and farinata as they are freshly baked and put out on the counter.  There is a vaguely Arabic feel to the dishes, and there is an excellent video of the place <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DgCsaBsr0Lw\">here<\/a>.  There are many excellent &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/#output=search&#038;sclient=psy-ab&#038;q=sciamadda&#038;oq=sciamadda&#038;gs_l=hp.3..0i10j0j0i30l2.917.2317.0.3212.9.9.0.0.0.0.156.538.8j1.9.0...0.0...1c.1.12.psy-ab.yrGr300Ta98&#038;pbx=1&#038;bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&#038;bvm=bv.46471029,d.dmg&#038;fp=62ecc3b7b7f38b3b&#038;biw=1366&#038;bih=675\">sciamadda<\/a>&#8221; in Genoa and they lie somewhere between a food stall and a very small restaurant, so do not count on them being open for dinner.<\/p>\n<p>2. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.it\/Restaurant_Review-g187823-d1791785-Reviews-Trattoria_alle_Due_Torri-Genoa_Italian_Riviera_Liguria.html\">Trattoria alle Due Torri<\/a>, Salita del Prione 53, near the Columbus house.  Order pasta and focaccia, this is some of the best spaghetti I\u2019ve had, and the pansotti (ravioli in walnut sauce) is notable.<\/p>\n<p>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.it\/#hl=it&#038;sclient=psy-ab&#038;q=genoa+la+rina&#038;oq=genoa+la+rina&#038;gs_l=hp.3...317.1958.0.2182.13.12.0.0.0.0.218.1922.0j8j3.11.0...0.0...1c.1.12.psy-ab.Hb38LT8q0y0&#038;pbx=1&#038;bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&#038;bvm=bv.46340616,d.bGE&#038;fp=5eba433d9effa035&#038;biw=1366&#038;bih=664\">La Rina<\/a>, superb seafood restaurant, don\u2019t focus on the main courses.<\/p>\n<p>There are relatively few tourists in town, although the most common group \u2014 by far \u2014 is Russians.
