Here is the one file, print it all out version, just revised<\/a>. Here is the blog version<\/a>, which is easier to follow in bits and pieces, looks nicer, works better, and accepts comments. Here are the links on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The old trends were good hamburgers<\/a> and pizza<\/a>. Those haven’t gone away, but the new area trends are Yemeni<\/a>, Filipino<\/a>, and more more more Chinese<\/a> of many different kinds. Good Mexican<\/a> is on the way, finally. Vietnamese<\/a> and El Salvadoran<\/a> are fine but stagnant. Persian<\/a> is growing, Ethiopian<\/a> is robust, and will more African<\/a> be next? The biggest growth in quality and interest has come in DC<\/a> (!), not the suburbs, at least this time around. In Virginia, Chantilly<\/a> has made the largest gains.<\/p>\n

The good news, at least from a culinary point of view, is that the gentrification of northern Virginia \u2014 northern and central Arlington excepted \u2014 is proceeding at a much slower rate than people might have expected say ten years ago.<\/p>\n
