Punjab Dhaba – Update December 2010

Punjab Dhaba, 7263-F Arlington Blvd, Loehmann’s Plaza, Falls Church, VA
Original review

Update December 2010:
Used to be great but it has switched hands and it is essentially a new restaurant, albeit with the same menu. The service and execution has totally deteriorated to the point of unacceptability; please know that I waited six months and multiple visits before making this pronouncement. Sometimes the food is still good but I predict its imminent demise unless they turn things around very quickly.

Agreed. The place has become a disappointment.

I’ve visited a few times too, and talked to the new owner. From what he indicated, they will be closing soon (since he isn’t anywhere close to breaking even). His plan is to move to a smaller location and become a takeout place.

Original Owner’s Sons bought back the restaurant. The original taste is back since 16th January 2011. Check them out on yelp before going. MUST TRY AGAIN!!! GREAT FOOD!!!

They even dropped some of their prices. They are selling a Whole Tandoori Chicken for $8.95.

Such a shame. I was there right after the new guy took over, and my meal was better than ever. He was a gracious host as well. I guess things just didn’t work out for him. I see now that Old Hickory Grill, next door, is closed down.

After a decade of happily patronizing Punjab Dhaba, I must sadly concur with the others. The new owner stopped doing the things that made the place successful. We went there at least once a month and sometimes more often. It slowly went downhill, although the Tandoori Chicken remained superb throughout. We’ve stopped going and are now shopping for a new Indian place.

I have been there once and never since. It is disgusting.

I have gone back now for the Tandoori chicken and the dahi vada (weekends only). Absolutely the best version I have had here, and that’s saying something. First rate. Easily one of the great meals in the DC area.

Now, sadly, closed. It was so good when Mr Ram’s sons came back and took over. A real loss.
