Samantha’s, 631 East University Boulevard, Silver Spring, MD, 301-445-7300 (Metro Trip Planner – opens in new window) [Silver Chips Online | Washingtonian | WaPo | City Paper | Don Rockwell | openlist | Yelp | Gayot]
Gives every sign of being a yummy, upscale version of a mom and pop restaurant. There is only one catch: the food is bland and uninteresting. Nor is it cheap, as Mexican food goes. A disappointment. A bit Pan-Latin, but not in any way to its advantage.

I worked right down the street from El Boqueron for years and always enjoyed good filling meals there. The restaurant part is on the lower level where the Harlequin dinner theater once was. The upper level is for carry out but has one old table to sit at. The owner for some reason would always give me something extra even a seafood burrito was a freeby one time. Homemade papusa’s are da bom! Of course it’s a real challenge to tackle a burrito. What a nice old fella. Upper level area could use a cleaning and some cieling tiles but the food is very good in my opinion.
