China Garden, Rosslyn, 1100 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA, 703-525-5317 [Washingtonian | WaPo | City Paper | food-plan | Don Rockwell | Gayot]
Supposed to be very good Cantonese food, popular with Chinese. Packed for dim sum on weekends.

FYI – the Reston location has closed. Too bad for those of us in the western part of the county!
Methinks China Garden has some new talent working on the dim sum menu. My last visit included new oddities such as water chestnut cake, a northern style bun with mushroom pork and a mustard/wasabi-tasting sauce, carrot-shaped sweets (I shied away from) and a pork & peanut steamed dumpling I want the recipe for.
But further indication of change was the quality of the usual standbys. The turnip cake was extremely soft, the sticky rice noticeably non-stick with too much lap cheung and scallion and other usual suspects MIA.
It’s 2012, and this place has gotten a lot better. Best Dim Sum in the region, IMHO, and I grew up in Southern China.
Go, go, go!
